Islam and the noble Islamic Sharia sent the Seal of the Prophets and Messengers, our master Muhammad (peace be upon him), from an Arab lineage and revealed the Qur’an in eloquent Arabic. Allah, the Almighty, said: {قرآناً عربياً غيرَ ذي عوجٍ لعلهم يتقونَ}, and also: {بلسانٍ عربيٍّ مبينٍ}. His Sunnah and laws were conveyed through this language, adding to its honor. Teaching the Arabic language is an obligation for Muslims, as it is not merely an educational issue but also a matter of faith and a noble mission. As reported by Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: “تعلموا العربيةَ فإنها من دينكم”. Therefore, it is essential for Muslims to understand Arabic, as understanding the Qur’an and the Sunnah depends on it, and worship cannot be performed without it. One cannot comprehend the Qur’an and the Sunnah unless they are proficient in Arabic. This research aims to highlight the importance of the Arabic language to draw Muslims’ attention to their duty to care for and preserve its role in conveying Islamic objectives and strengthening the fraternal bond among them. The research relied on the inductive and analytical methods to trace and analyze the aspects of this importance. Consequently, the study concluded that the Arabic language is the only means to understand the Qur’anic verses and the Hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and is crucial for reinforcing brotherhood among the diverse members of the Islamic Ummah. Additionally, this research also explores the causes of problems related to the Arabic language and proposes solutions.
